Elizabeth Diane (Knoch) Moore

Liz was born in Lethbridge, AB, to John and Elizabeth Knoch and grew up on the family farm near Nanton, AB. Life on the farm shaped her resilience, strong work ethic, and practical nature—qualities that stayed with her throughout her life. After attending school in Nanton, she moved to Calgary to study secretarial arts, beginning a new chapter that set the course for her future. While living in Calgary, she met Arthur “Art” Moore, and together they built a life grounded in hard work, family, and their shared love of old cars through the Northern Motors car club. Their son, Lyle, was born on August 17, 1966, and many cherished memories were made camping and spending time at the cabin as a family.

Liz had a lifelong fondness for cats and welcomed many into her home over the years. Her most recent companion, Gizmo, provided endless entertainment—from memorable air travel adventures to Arizona to the daily antics that filled her home with laughter.

Throughout her career, Liz worked in various sales roles, including at a car dealership and a Corian tile company, where she helped customers design beautiful kitchens and bathrooms. She had a natural ability to connect with people and took pride in helping others bring their ideas to life.

Liz was known for her impeccable fashion sense—especially her love of hats—and her ability to make a statement without saying a word. She enjoyed camping, golfing, playing cards, and spending winters in Arizona, where she formed countless friendships. In her later years, she lived in several retirement communities, quickly becoming a familiar face and building meaningful connections wherever she went.

Despite being diagnosed with Lupus and Parkinson’s, Liz faced every challenge with remarkable strength and determination. She refused to let illness define her, choosing instead to live fully, independently, and with her trademark wit and sharpness right to the end.

Liz is lovingly remembered by her son Lyle Moore, daughter in law Renee Ducharme, brother Marvin Knoch (Joan), sister Marilynn Knoch, sister in law Sylvia Moore, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents John and Elizabeth Knoch, her husband Art Moore, her sister Jean Hackett, brother in law Tom Hackett, and sister in law Darlene Knoch.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, September 20 from 2–4 p.m. at Sanderson Ridge (2330 Fish Creek Blvd SW, Calgary, AB). Extra parking is available at the Marshall Springs Fish Creek parking lot.
