Betty (Elizabeth) Petit passed away at the Dulcina Hospice on Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at the age of 90 years after a brief battle with cancer. She was born on June 6, 1932 in Delia, Alberta to Walter and Lovise Marchant. Betty spent most of her younger years in Edmonton, working at Morgan's Art & Framing, Marshall Wells and Imperial Oil before marrying her beloved husband Aubrey, in 1967. Betty then dedicated her time to raising their daughter, Colette. After moving to Calgary in 1983, Betty continued her many hobbies including a love and talent for art (sketching and water colour), crafts, baking, and she enjoyed the annual family golfing trips to Fairmont, British Columbia.
She was an amazing wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend. Betty was gracious, gentle, kind and loving, with a wonderful sense of humor. She always put others ahead of herself and will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Betty is survived by her husband, Aubrey; their daughter, Colette; her brother, Les (Dot); and her sister, Marie (George).
She is predeceased by her parents, Lovise and Walter, her sisters, Louise and Loretta and her beloved Scottish Terrier, MacDuff.
At the family's request, no service will be held.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Betty's name can be made to the Alberta Cancer Foundation at https://www.albertacancer.ca/.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff, doctors, and nurses at the Foothills Medical Centre, Rockyview General Hospital, and Dulcina Hospice for all their dedication and compassionate care.
