I'm so sorry for your loss and thinking of all of you. Auntie Ella must have felt at peace during her last moments surrounded by her loved ones. She had so many close family and friends during her lifetime and that is a testament to a life well lived. Her kindness and positivity impacted all those around her and that legacy will live on through them. Rest in peace, auntie Ella.

My deepest condolences to you Michael, Orrie, Korey, and Kolbie. As a volunteer who worked with Ella on the 2nd Floor, Extended Care, as well as being involved with Pastoral Care.. I can say Ella  will truly be missed. She was a quiet, kind and comforting presence  at  our weekly Mass and Communion Services. She was a beacon of light to staff and residents.  Her light will shine bright in our hearts!

Dear Mike, Orrie, Korey and Kolbie

We remember your mother at Scout camps.  Did we mothers have a great time together at camp!  Ella was such a naturally happy person, and she had everyone else warm with her glow.  Ella was such a capable and smart woman, and there was nothing she wouldn't do at camp.  I remember one camp where the three of us must have peeled 150 apples for the dessert, and we were laughing the whole time as we shared stories from our youth. I always looked forward to seeing her at camp and sharing a few days with her wonderful energy.

After Scouts, we'd still see Ella around the community in Scenic Acres.  She was so proud of you all, and she glowed as she shared the family's updates.

I will forever look up to Ella. She showed such unconditional generosity. For my nephew’s 100 day party, she gave me a red pocket for him - no question. She didn’t know me well, but never hesitated. It wasn’t about the gift, but the gift was a method for her to build connection and memories with the person she was gifting. She valued time, stories, and people. Ella will leave a lasting impact on me. To the family, I hope stories and food continue to be cherished the way Ella would have wanted. I am thinking about them all a lot. Big hugs

Dearest Sis 2, Ella:
I am deeply sad that you left us behind. You are my sister and my close friend. I remembered that we had so much fun when you took me and Sandie camping while you were working for Girl Guide Association in Hong Kong.  We remembered that you mistreated the lamppost's light as the moonlight when we were sleeping outdoor in the camp ground.  We went on trips to Tofino, Sunshine Coast, Egmond in Victoria and many other trips. The most memorable part for me was, we cooked 15 ponnds of live shrimps for mid-night snacks after all the kids went to bed couple days in a row. You always prepared food and bought gifts for all the family members on special days. You love our 4 dogs, they are: Bobo, Mimi, Hubble, and Turbo.  Sis 2, you are a loving, caring and fun person full of joy and kindness. I will miss you forever. 
May God take care and guide you. May your soul rest in peace with Lord.

My dearest Sis 2,  Jul 21 is one of the darkest days in my life to see you leave us to eternal home.  Knowing that you are now in a better place with no more pain but joy gives me more comfort.  I dearly miss you a lot - you are such a loving, caring and patient sister, a good listener, a good mentor and a good travel buddy.   When our kids were young, we travelled a lot together, Disneyland being one of our favorite places to visit.  We screamed together in Space Mountain and Tower of Terror, relaxed in the Small World boat ride ...  - I will never forget the good times that we spent together.  After the kids grew up and moved away from home, we were even closer -  we walked together after dinner and would always pick up some tacos on Taco Tuesday night :-),  Friday dinner after work is a must (we both agreed that we had to treat ourselves after a week's work - LOL), followed by our favorite relaxation program on Saturday - shopping.  We talked over the phone at least once per day to check out each other.  We spent so much time together that the list can go on and on ...   You always cared for the others before yourself and brought joy to people around you.  Thank you for being such an incredible part of my life.   I am sure that life will not be the same without your presence.  Looking back at everything we’ve been through from childhood till now, I am so grateful for the laughs, the deep conversations, and the adventures we shared. I am blessed to have you as my sister.  I will cherish the memories we made together forever, and they will always hold a special place in my heart.  My dearest Sis 2, rest in God's eternal peace and reunite with mom, dad, brother-in-law Ben and the 3 puppies (Hubble, Mimi and Turbo).  Love you forever from Hui May!

I first met Ella was in 1980 during a big party at U of Alberta. It was her smile and cheerful warm welcome for new comer that impressed me the most. Her willingness to help and cooking skill has always made her to be the center of attention.

I first met you in 2016 when I joined Wing Kei as a new graduate Recreation Therapist. As I began my career, I learned so much from you. You were my mentor, my friend, and someone I deeply admired. Thank you for your guidance, your patience, and for helping shape the therapist I am today.

Over the past ten years, I got married and became a mother of two. Through every stage of my life, you were always there for me. You cared for me like family. You had such a kind, humble, and inclusive heart. You treated everyone with respect, never judged anyone, and always made people feel welcomed and valued. You had a special gift for bringing people together, and your warmth and gentle spirit touched everyone around you.

You were more than a mentor—you were a dear friend and an inspiration. I will always cherish the memories we shared and the lessons you taught me, both professionally and personally. You will forever be remembered and deeply missed.

I hope you are now at peace, free from pain.

I had the pleasure of working with Ella, from 2007-2011 at the High River Hospital. My role as  hospital Chaplain brought me regularly in contact with Ella and her wonderful staff.  What drew my attention to Ella was her compassion and her gentle spirit she shared with the residents on second floor. New and old residents alike soon experienced Ella’s profound kindness to everyone she met. I know Ella was a wonderful wife to Mike and a loving mother to her boys, but she extended that love when she arrived each morning to the High River Hospital. We were deeply saddened to learn of Ella’s passing. As the beloved sister of our dear friend, we had the pleasure of seeing Ella at our annual Christmas gatherings over the years. Though our visits were only occasional, her warm smile, gentle spirit, and genuine kindness always left a lasting impression on us.

We admired Ella’s dedication to her work as a Recreation Therapist, where she touched the lives of so many with compassion, patience, and care. She truly made the world a better place through her kindness and service to others.

It was also clear how deeply Ella loved her family, and how deeply she was loved in return. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother to her three sons, a cherished sister, and someone whose warmth and quiet strength brought comfort to everyone around her.

Our heartfelt condolences go to her husband, sons, siblings, and all who knew and loved her. May the love that surrounded Ella throughout her life, and the precious memories you shared together, bring you comfort and peace in the days ahead. Her kindness, compassion, and beautiful spirit will always be remembered.

My condolences to all of Ella’s family and friends. She was such a beautiful person and has been an inspiration to me since having her as my practicum preceptor 5 years ago.
