

Ella was born in Hoi Ping, Canton, China in 1956. She spent her youth growing up in Hong Kong. In 1979, Ella's life journey brought her to Edmonton, Alberta, where she graduated from the U of A in Recreation. Ella built a life defined by compassion, generosity, and an unwavering love for those around her. She dedicated her career to serving others as a Recreation Therapist at High River Hospital and Wing Kei Care Centres, where her kindness, empathy, and genuine care enriched the lives of countless individuals and their families.
Ella was a loving wife, devoted mother, and cherished friend. She is survived by her beloved husband, Michael of 44 years, and her three sons, Orrie, Korey, and Kolbie. She also leaves behind her beloved siblings, brother Stanley and her three sisters Miranda, Cecilia and Sandie. Her family was her greatest joy, and she took immense pride in the life they built together.
Those who knew Ella will remember her as a warm and welcoming person. She had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel valued and included. A true social butterfly, Ella loved bringing people together, creating lasting friendships wherever she went. She embraced life with an adventurous spirit, always eager to experience new places, meet new people, and create meaningful memories with those she loved. Her loving, generous, kind, and caring nature touched everyone who is fortunate to know her.
Though her passing leaves an immeasurable void, Ella's legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched through her compassion, friendship, and unwavering devotion to family and community. She will be remembered for her beautiful smile, her generous heart, and the love she gave so freely.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has offered love, prayers, and support during this difficult time.
Ella will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever held in the hearts of her family, friends, and all whose lives were blessed by knowing her.
A Vigil Prayer Service will be at St. Pius X Parish, 2424 - 24 Avenue NW, Calgary, held on Friday, July 31, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be Celebrated on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. St. Pius X Parish. In keeping with Ella's bright personality, the family encourages all friends and relatives to wear their favorite colours, in lieu of black.
Interment will follow at Queen's Park Cemetery, 3219 4 Street NW Calgary.
