OBITUARY

Emily Chisholm

13 January, 1922 – 20 June, 2025
IN THE CARE OF

South Calgary Funeral Centre and Crematorium

Emily Chisholm, a beloved member of the Banff community, passed away peacefully at the age of 103 at St. Martha’s Place in Banff.

Emily was a strong, hardworking, and fiercely independent woman. In her early twenties, she came west to work at Skoki Lodge in Banff National Park, having journeyed from her roots near Gimli, Manitoba. It was in Banff that she met the love of her life, Jack Chisholm. The two built a life and a home filled with love, laughter, and gardens with flowers. Together, they raised two sons and created a life surrounded by nature and community.

Emily and Jack shared a deep love for the mountains. They spent countless joyful hours hiking, biking, skiing, and exploring the Rockies. The indescribable beauty of the region became a constant presence in their lives, and they hiked many trails throughout the years. After Jack’s passing in 2001, Emily could still be seen walking the streets of Banff every afternoon – a quiet, steadfast presence who inspired many.

Emily is survived by her sons; Randy (Beth) and Richard (Debbie), her grandsons; Daniel (Jessica) and Jeffrey (Bailee), and her great-grandchildren; Brinley, Connor, Ivy, and Scottie. She also leaves behind her sister, Rose.

She was predeceased by her husband Jack.

Her family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the wonderful staff at St. Martha’s Long Term Care Facility – especially Lori Thorburn and Cecilia Onate – for the exceptional care and compassion they provided.

A Celebration of Emily’s Life will be held at St. George’s in the Pines Anglican Church in Banff, Alberta, at a later date (to be announced). In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Emily’s memory to St. Martha’s Long Term Care Facility at covenanthealth.ca.
