Ernie will be forever remembered and sadly missed by his loving wife, Shirley, of 58 years; his sons Shane (Joy), Peter (Lorraine) and Kim (Dawn); his daughter Tracey (Ken); grandchildren Jolene, Tyler (Sara), Meghan (Billy), Kayla (Travis), Logan, Aylannah (Darian), Amber and Kyle; great grandchildren Keely and Lincoln along with sisters Gertie (Eric) and Stella; in-laws Audrey, Bob, Alfred and Mary, Elsie and Marion and numerous nieces and nephews. Ernie was a supervisor at Exide Battery Plant till its closing and then went on to be a caretaker with the Calgary Board of Education until his retirement. He always dedicated his spare time to his kids and grandkids with coaching soccer, and cheering at hockey, soccer, baseball, figure skating, baton and recitals that involved his family, as he was their biggest fan. Ernie enjoyed his retirement years with golfing, mall walking and his daily morning coffee with the regulars at the mall and at Tim’s. He was known for his willingness to chat and get to know anyone and everyone and always, always had a joke or story to tell. The family would like to extend very special thanks and appreciation to Dr. Mark Sosnowki, Dr. S. McFadden and his team, Foothills Hospital Unit 61 and the Southwood Hospice caregivers for their excellent care.
