Everett James Marwood

Everett James Marwood, dearly cherished by all his family, passed away on Sunday, December 29, 2024 in Calgary, AB at the age of 79. It is with great sadness and much love that we mourn the passing of a man whose love of learning, deep kindness and energy for life continues to be an inspiration in the hearts of all who knew him.

Everett is dearly missed by Linda, his loving wife of 55 years, his children David (Sonja) and Julie and his grandsons Benton, Joseph and Grant. It is difficult to describe just how devoted Everett was to his family and how he took the time to create a unique and beautiful connection with each and every member. He is also lovingly remembered by his brothers Curtis and Maurice (Helene) and his sister Frances (Marvin). Everett was as lucky to have them in his life as they were to have him. He is predeceased by his parents Frederick Marwood and Ruby Marwood/Poulter.

Everett spent his early years on the family farm in Matheson, Ontario and later moved to Kingsville, Ontario. In 1969 Everett graduated from the University of Waterloo with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and that same year Everett and Linda were married in Montreal, Que. Everett was an entrepreneur at heart, exploring, discussing and implementing all things business. I believe he would be proud to say that entrepreneurism was his vehicle for learning, one that gave him ample opportunity to think outside the box.

Everett had a passion for life that would make most of us envious. He had a kind spirit and cared as much for the stranger sitting next to him as he did for the youth he spent years mentoring. He enjoyed contributing his time to local community gardens and especially singing with the Calgary Music Makers Senior Choir. Everett, we all miss you. You will live in our hearts forever.

As per Everett’s request a private family service was held on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at Foster's Garden Chapel.
