Florence Elizabeth Leclerc

Florence Leclerc (Schneidmiller, nee Mill) passed away on Thursday, October 15, 2015 at the age of 93 years. Florence was born in Calgary Alberta on February 6, 1922. Raised on a farm near Sundre, Alberta, she eventually met and married John Schneidmiller. After losing two infant children, they moved back to Calgary with their first son Arthur and resided in the Bridgeland community. Following WWII and John’s return from overseas, their youngest son Richard was born in 1946. In 1952 the family moved to the Parkdale community. Florence worked at various jobs until 1959 when she decided to further her education by enrolling in the Henderson School of Business where she proudly excelled. Following graduation, she gained employment with National Trust Company. Other employment opportunities followed, including a brief term of employment at the Foothills Hospital, followed by employment at the cash office at Sears Canada. In January of 1975, Florence was faced with the unexpected death of her husband John. After several years, she met and married her second husband Roland Leclerc. They lived happily together until his passing in 1996. Florence was a lovely lady who was always there to lend a helping hand. Florence is survived by her two sons, Arthur (Ruth) Schneidmiller and Richard (Gail) Schneidmiller of Calgary; and two step-daughters, Lucille Longley of Victoria, BC and Yvette (Larry) Mutcheson of Calgary. She is also survived by two grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Florence’s surviving siblings include her older sister Dorothea Weiss and younger sister Mary (Ernie) Bird both of Olds, AB, as well as her younger brother Vernon (Carla) Mill of Calgary. A Memorial Service will be held at FOSTER’S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Thursday, October 22, 2015 at 2:00 p.m., with Interment to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
