He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Jessie; daughter, Bonnie (Paul Symons); sons, Anthony (Jane), Les (Ashley Tran); and grandson, Matthew. He is also survived by his brother, Paul Quan (Jean) and their family.
Fred was predeceased by his parents, Peter Kew and Soon Sam. Fred was born in Hoy Ping, China. He arrived in Medicine Hat in 1950 where he attended high school. In 1958, he moved to Calgary to study engineering at Mount Royal College. In January 1961, he met Jessie and the two were married in September that same year. Fred was employed at the University of Calgary’s Central Heating Plant for 38 years as a Steam Engineer. He retired in 2002. His favourite hobbies were ballroom dancing, playing golf and dog sitting. He and Jessie enjoyed travelling and cruising for over thirty years.
A Visitation will be held at FOSTER’S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 - 4 Street NW (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Monday, April 29, 2019 - 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
A Funeral Service will be held at Foster’s Garden Chapel on Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. with Interment to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
