Born in Calgary on January 8, 1952, Garry was a strong and determined man who lived life on his own terms. He was smart and caring yet never afraid to say what he thought. Garry knew what he wanted - and he knew how to get it done.
Those who knew Garry will remember his strength, his determination, his sharp mind, and his caring heart. All his life he had been a fighter for what he believed to be true but beneath that was someone who cared deeply about the people in his life.
Garry spent many years working for Calgary Transit, where he built a career and became part of the fabric of the city he called home.
Outside of work, Garry had a love for 60's music (especially Elvis Presley) and was known for playing the accordion - one of the many things that reflected his unique personality and the joy he found in doing things his own way.
Garry will be lovingly remembered by his daughters, Alexandra (Emilio) and Kelly; his sister, Carol (Tom); his niece, Heather; his nephews Joel and Alan; as well as cousins and many others whose lives he touched.
Garry leaves behind memories that will remain with those who loved him, and a legacy that is uniquely his own. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Rest peacefully, Dad. You were one of a kind.
A Funeral Service will be held at Foster’s Garden Chapel, 3220 – 4 Street N.W. Calgary, Alberta (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Friday, September 18, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at Eden Brook Cemetery at 3:00 p.m.
