Gary Lucas

He is survived by his wife Fran (Katie, Riley, Kailee, Owen), mother Dorothy, daughter Laura (Trevor, Delilah), son Matthew (Jersey, Ty and Mila), son Geoff (Gabriella, William and Henry), sister Susan (Mike), goddaughter Andrea (Thomas, knight school graduates- Marcus, Kaia and Lucas), brothers Gene (Ann, Kim and Chris), Rob (Jamie and Erin, Brenda, Mickey and Ben ) and Rick (Jenny). He is pre-deceased by his father Percy.

Gary grew up in Highland Creek, Ontario and moved to Calgary in 1985 with his career at Shell Canada. Ever the avid adventurer and sportsman, he spent many years playing hockey, running track, camping and fishing. As a father and grandfather / papa, his love of the outdoors was joyfully passed on. Summers spent by the lake in a tent, trailer or fishing cabin were his favorite place to be. His children and grandchildren were his favorite company and although far away, he kept his family very close. No deck was left unbuilt!

In his later years he dedicated himself to perfecting his golf game just enough to beat Frannie as often as possible.

His humble generosity touched many. He will be remembered for his warmth and inviting spirit. There was always room at his lobster fest for anyone to enjoy his garlicy Caesar salad!

Gary requests a private family celebration of life and donations to the Calgary Food Bank (in lieu of flowers).
