Gennaro "Gino" Nania

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gennaro "Gino" Nania. Gennaro Nania, beloved husband of 65 years to Giovanna Nania, passed away suddenly at the Brentwood Care Center on Thursday, June 16, 2016 at the age of 87 years. He was the loving father of Rosa Frustaci (Salvatore), John Nania, Maria Nicholl- Martin (John), and Teresa Nania (Dan). He will be lovingly remembered by his eleven grandchildren: Mary Frustaci (Ed), Joanne Martin (Doug), Carla Gelinas (Marc), Jamie Nania (Naomi), Michael Nicholl (Taralyn), Joel Nania, Melissa Klapper, Marco Frustaci, Jesse Nania, Leah Conforti (Anthony), and Taylor Conforti. Gino will also be greatly missed by his thirteen great-grandchildren: Kayla Stephens, Christopher Stephens, Kole Martin, Kyle Martin, Dylan Stephens, Lane Martin, Domenic Gelinas, Delano Gelinas, Charlie Nicholl, Harlow Klapper, Berlin Klapper, Oliver Nania, and Lincoln Nania. Gino was born in San Giovanni Di Albi, Catanzaro, Italy and immigrated to Canada in 1955 where he made a life for his family working for the City of Calgary for 33 years. Gino loved being outside in his garden, watching sports, and spending as much time as he could with his family. A Funeral Service will be held at FOSTER’S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at 2:00 p.m., with a public visitation prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Gino’s name directly to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 100, 119 – 14 Street N.W., Calgary, Alberta T2N 1Z6.
