Mr. Arnall of Calgary passed peacefully with ease and grace, his family by his side at Colonel Belcher Carewest on November 10, 2011 at the age of 87 years. He is survived by Edna, his wife of sixty-one years, daughter Karen Falk, son in law Ray Falk, son Bill and daughter Kathryn Lindwall, son in law Roy Lindwall, sisters-in-law Vieno Homier (Howard), Ellen Penny, Irene Taylor (Bob), and his grandchildren Tyler Hill, Samantha Lindwall, Dawn Lindwall and Caitlin Arnall. They will all miss their grandpa, as will his many nieces and nephews and their children and grandchildren. George was predeceased by parents Bill and Beth, brother Jack and sister Mary. George served in the RCAF from 1943 to 1945 as an air frame mechanic. He was a longtime member of the Legion, volunteered at the Aerospace Museum restoring airplanes. He loved visiting the Military Museums with Ray. George’s career started with the CNR, and then moved into trucking with Canadian Freightways, PIX, Pacific 66 and retiring from PetroCanada. During those years he was active in the Calgary Transportation Club, the president of the Calgary Petroleum Curling Club with many battles on the ice as skip of a winning team, something Bill emulated. He loved golf and achieved the elusive “Hole in One” on more than one occasion. He encouraged Edna, Bill and the grandchildren to share in his passion for golf. George also loved dogs and during his childhood he had many Fox Terriers. Once married, George and Edna opened their hearts to Prince, Sport, Penny and Sammy who all enjoyed a “dog’s life” as their four legged kids. A private interment was held at Queen’s Park Cemetery. Relatives and friends were invited to a celebration of George’s life at St. Matthew’s United Church 2035 – 26A Street SW Calgary (403-249-1721) on Saturday, November 19, 2011 at 11:00a.m. In lieu of flowers, please support one of George’s favorite charities; Cochrane Humane Society, Mustard Seed, Calgary Drop In Centre, Salvation Army or the Calgary Food Bank.
