Sorry to hear of George's passing. Condolences to Liane, Shannon, Sarah and the rest of the Stevenson family,  and to the Rocky Mountain Aircraft family.

So sorry to hear the news of George's passing. I have such fond memories of him.
Although he may not have known it, George was a great help to me when I was a young, wet-behind-the-ears Managing Director at Trans Maldivian Airways. He was always generous with his advice and, of course, with delivering aircraft whenever I needed them. There were always a few fun negotiations thrown in, usually followed by a handshake, a good meal, and on one occasion even a trip to the Stampede.
George was one of the good guys. While others often told me he was a tough negotiator, I always found him to be incredibly kind and supportive. Whenever we met, he treated me with warmth, respect and friendship.
My sincere condolences to all of George's family and everyone at RMA. He leaves behind an incredible legacy, and it is wonderful to see the next generation doing such a great job of carrying it forward.

Although I haven't seen George for many years I am very sorry to hear of his passing.  I first met George in 1971 when he and Gary Senft came to Yellowknife to salvage a Piper Navajo owned by Ptarmigan Airways.  I bumped into him a time or two later when he was passing through Yellowknife.  In 1974 my boss Clem Bekar and I were at Field Aviation.  I saw George  and he asked me if I knew of anybody who wanted to buy a Turbo Beaver that he was rebuilding.  I called Clem. They made a deal and thus started a long amiable relationship between George , his companies, Kimba, later Rocky Mountain A/C and Clem's Ptarmigan Airways. Over the next 20  years or so there were many business transactions between them.  I was only an employee of Ptarmigan but George always treated me royally, giving his Lincoln for me to use when I was in Calgary, tickets for the Flames and lunches ect.  I always felt he was very fair and honest in his dealings and certainly deserved the Max Ward trophy he received for his contribution to aviation.

We are so sorry to hear that George has passed on.  Paul received a message  last night,  from Gerry Backa.....  that he had heard that George had died.   George played a big part in Paul's career as an AME and over almost 17 years  they were business partners and then Paul  as an employee, some good and happy times and also a falling out.   George had high expectations of his employees in those early years of late nights and not leaving until the job was completed.  He was tough and often not aware that his expectations were unreasonable.  But............he was, over those years, a very big part of our lives and we still talk about those early years with pilot Jerry, Greg and others -  A lot of  'the guys' have died and now it's George's turn. Sorry to hear of your loss. George was a larger than life character and clearly a shrewd businessman. I have some great memories of George and will raise a glass in his memory this weekend.

Dear Shannon /Andy and family, this is such sad news to receive. The times years gone by now where i met up with George at RMA were always special, even when trying to buy our first DHC6 Aircraft from him (S/no 695) in 2000 ish. Although he had a figure in his mind of how much the aircraft was going to cost us,he made myself and Ron write down individual figures of how much we thought he would be asking for the aircraft, then he made us pass them to him. That is one hell of a way to sell aircraft, fun though.
I'm sure he will be missed not only by yourselves, and the community. but also all those individuals and companies that have worked  with him and Rocky Mountain Aircraft over the many years.God spead,  kind regards. I met George as a young kid.  Early in my teenage years, our families enjoyed summertime at our beloved condominium “Why Knot Anchor Inn” . It was a place for kids to grow up all summer and enjoy the lake. In my teenage years, I spent many days driving George’s boat taking any kid that wanted to ski, wakeboard, or tube from sunrise to Sunset.  

One summer, George decided that the kids at the “Condo”, needed to have a tree house. George woke me up early one morning and we went off today hardware store, and spent the next several days building a treehouse for all of the kids.

George was soft spoken with a big heart.

He will be missed by many.
