Elden was a proud, gentle, caring man who never spoke badly about anyone. He lived in several Alberta communities -Raymond, Calgary (Lakeview, Deer Run, Midnapore) and in retirement Foremost, Pincher Creek, Strathmore and Carmangay. He and Nadine were campground hosts in the Kananaskis and Pincher Creek areas. Their home was where ever the camper took them.
Elden worked as a farmer in Raymond, at Woodwards in Sporting Goods, in Security for the Calgary Exhibition & Stampede Board, and as a Bob Cat salesman for A1 Rentals. He loved to play cribbage with anyone who would challenge him. Elden participated in many curling bonspiels and baseball tournaments. He loved hockey especially the Calgary Flames. Elden loved country music and hymns and would often sing along. He was often called PA BROWN. He was a father figure and comfort for many “long distant” voyagers who would appear on his doorstep and say “Your daughter/son sent me and said I would be welcome here.” They were never turned away. Elden was called GRANDPA, and with texting G’Pa. He was brought closer to family with Skype. He loved to sing with them on the phone or hear their attempt to sing country tunes. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made directly to the Alzheimer Society of Calgary, #201, 222 – 58 Ave SW, Calgary
God saw you getting weary,
He did what He thought best,
He put His arms around you
And said, "Come and rest".
He opened up His golden gates
On that heart breaking day,
And with His arms around you,
You gently slipped away.
It broke our hearts to lose you,
You did not go alone,
A part of use went with you,
The day God called you home.
Miss me a little - but not too long, Remember the love that we all shared,
Miss me, but let me go. When you are lonely and sick of heart, seek family and friends we know.
FAMILIES TOGETHER FOREVER
