Jerry was born in Rocky Mountain House, Alberta, on April 27, 1937, the eldest child of Jack and Ivy Roberts, and big brother to Dennis, Lorraine, and Garth. His early childhood was spent on the family’s homestead east of Rocky Mountain House, before moving to the farm southeast of Innisfail so he and his brother could attend school.
He began his education at Horseshoe Lake’s one-room country school, where he and Dennis rode horseback the two miles each day—or walked, as Jerry liked to say, “when we got bucked off the horse.” He later attended Lindsay Thurber Composite High School in Red Deer, returning home only on weekends and summers.
After graduation, Jerry worked in the oil patch on seismic crews and spent a summer helping on the family farm. He eventually settled in Calgary, where he discovered his true calling in real estate. Over the years, his hard work, integrity, and sense of humour earned him the trust and friendship of many clients and colleagues. Jerry went on to found Roberts Real Estate, which he operated successfully until his retirement.
Jerry will be remembered for his kindness, wit, and unwavering work ethic. He valued family, friendship, and the simple joys of life.
A Celebration of Jerry's life will be held on Saturday, November 15th at 1PM at South Calgary Funeral Centre (12700 Macleod Trail S.)
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your favourite charity in Jerry’s memory.
