With hearts full of gratitude for a life beautifully lived, and hearts heavy with the weight of our loss, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and matriarch, Mami Getrude Nkenganyi, who went to be with the Lord on Friday, December 12, 2025, at the Peter Lougheed Hospital in Calgary, AB.
Born on January 1, 1950, in Cameroon, Mama entered this world as a gift, and she left it as a testimony of God’s faithfulness. On January 19, 2014, she journeyed to Canada, carrying with her the strength of her heritage, the warmth of her culture, and the unwavering love she poured into her family.
Mama was the devoted widow of the late Mr. Henry Achankeng Fotabong Mbenjangkeng, with whom she built a home rooted in faith, discipline, compassion, and sacrifice. Together, they raised a family that continues to carry their legacy with pride. She was the cherished mother of five children, the joyful grandmother of seven grandchildren, and the blessed great grandmother of five great grandchildren. Her lineage is her crown, and her legacy lives on in every life she touched.
A Life of Sacrifice, Strength, and Scripture
Mami Getrude was not just a mother — she was a pillar, a covering, a warrior, and a living example of Proverbs 31.
She sacrificed her own comfort so her children could stand tall.
She gave without expecting anything in return.
She prayed when others slept.
She carried burdens silently so her family could walk freely.
Her hands were never idle, her heart never hardened, and her faith never wavered.
She lived the Gospel not in words, but in the way she loved, served, forgave, and endured.
She walked in humility, lived with gratitude, and trusted the Lord through every season.
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” — 2 Timothy 4:7
Her life was a sermon.
Her home was a sanctuary.
Her Legacy Lives On
Though our hearts mourn, we do not grieve as those without hope.
Mama has simply transitioned from labor to reward, from earthly struggle to heavenly rest.
She leaves behind a family strengthened by her sacrifices, guided by her wisdom, and forever covered by her prayers.
“Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints.” — Psalm 116:15
Mama Getrude has returned to her Maker, reunited with her beloved husband, and welcomed into the eternal joy of the Lord.
Rest Well, Mama
Your race is finished.
Your crown is won.
Your legacy is eternal.
Your children rise and call you blessed.
May your soul rest in perfect peace until we meet again in glory.
Our beloved mother and grandmother, Getrude Nkenganyi died peacefully at the age of 75 years.
Mama was the heart of our home and family. She raised five children, Ancilia (55), Nibille, Leo, Esther, and Simon, in a happy and loving home to be independent and thoughtful adults. As a grandmother to Agnes, Mandela, Atambeuh, Salvador, Linette, Excel, Junior, and Austin, she was the "fun granny," that was always indoors and calls the snow---salt.
