Geza was born in 1938 in Miskolc, Hungary. In 1956, during the Hungarian Revolution, he immigrated to Canada as a young man seeking safety, opportunity, and a new beginning. After arriving in Canada, Geza devoted himself to building a new life and future in the country he proudly came to call home.
After arriving in Canada, Geza met his wife Edith, also originally from Hungary, and together they built a life and family rooted in hard work and perseverance. Married for more than 55 years before her passing in 2013, they enjoyed gathering with family and friends and could often be found together, gracefully dancing across the dance floor.
Although trained as a butcher in Hungary, Geza spent most of his working years in Canada in the restaurant construction industry. He was hardworking, independent, and dedicated much of his life to providing for his family, often spending long periods away from home for work. He valued independence, believed strongly in doing things properly, and was never shy about sharing his opinion.
Geza leaves behind his sons Edward, Andrew, and Ben (Shannon), along with his grandchildren Justin, Kaitlin, Noah, Jamie and Dawn.
In his spare time, Geza enjoyed fishing and watching sports, especially hockey, curling, and tennis. He was very social, loved telling a good joke, and always had a good story to tell.
He will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.
A Memorial Service will be held at Foster’s Garden Chapel, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Saturday, July 4, 2026, at 2:00 p.m.
