Harry Antonio is survived by his wife of 57 years, Marlene Joan Elaine Antonio, daughter Jolaine Antonio and her husband Stephen, and cat MacDonald. He is also survived by his brother Walter Antonio of Regina, and his wife and sons, and sister Pauline Scibak of Winnipeg, and her sons. He was predeceased by his parents John and Annie Antonio. Harry grew up on a farm in Porcupine Plain, SK. In his youth he enjoyed distance running, hockey and curling. He played semi-pro baseball with the Carrot River Loggers. After completing high school in 1953 he studied civil engineering at the University of Saskatchewan, graduating in 1958. He later did post-graduate work at the University of Calgary. In 1957, he married Marlene Lauder. In the early years of their married life, they lived in Saskatoon, Stettler, Medicine Hat and Drayton Valley, while Harry worked in the field for the Energy Resources Conservation Board. In 1962, he was transferred to the head office in Calgary. In 1970, daughter Jolaine was born. He was very involved in her school activities, and extracurriculars such as dance and piano lessons and coaching her softball teams. Over the years, he worked in the ERCB’s Oil Department, Gas Department, and finally for 18 years as manager of the Data Processing Department. He was a member of APEGA and other professional organizations. After 32 years with the ERCB, Harry retired in 1990. In retirement, Harry spent much of his time golfing and travelling with Marlene through the western U.S., Hawaii and Scotland. He remained a devoted Saskatchewan Roughriders fan. Harry’s family would like to thank their friends at Bow Crest Care Centre for the superb care they gave Harry over the last nine years.
A Memorial Service will be held at FOSTER’S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 4 Street N.W., Calgary (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery) at 3:00 on Friday, June 27, 2014.
