Born on March 15, 1929 to Cheng and Jung Leong, Harry spent much of his formative years in Enping, Guangdong, China. Hoping for a better life, he came to Canada in 1956 to Vauxhall, Alberta. He married the woman of his dreams, Hing in April of 1963, and together they would raise a family and build their lives. Harry and Hing moved to Calgary in 1963 where they would later establish a successful grocery store, Harry’s Grocery (1967 to 2005).
Always a hard worker, Harry found joy in providing for his family and took great pride in serving customers at his store. His charm and generosity will be missed by many.
He will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his two children; Howard and
Sherry (Michael) and granddaughter Wei Ling; as well as all who came to know him.
Harry was predeceased by his wife, Hing in 2010; they will be reunited at the interment service at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
