Harry Kwok Chun Wong passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren at Wing Kei Care Centre on the afternoon of Sunday, May 31, 2026, at the age of 95 years.
Born in Toisan, China, he moved to Hong Kong at the age of 18 after marrying his wife, Janet; they had five beautiful children. In August of 1968, Betty and Joe Leong, his loving sister and brother-in-law, sponsored all eight members of his family, including his mother, to Canada to begin their new life. Without Betty and Joe’s support, Harry and his family would not have had the life they lived - Harry and his family will be forever grateful for this.
Although there were tough times and hardships, Harry and Janet’s resiliency allowed them to live a full, vibrant, and beautiful life surrounded by their abundant immediate and extended family from around the world. Harry was truly a devoted and loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to all who knew him. Dedicated and caring, he had a passion for cooking, even after his time as a chef, and showed his love and generosity through the delicious meals he prepared for his growing family. After retiring, he and Janet took on the role of taking care of their numerous grandchildren, enjoying mahjong with friends and family in between. Even in their golden years, their grandchildren and great-grandchildren kept them young, smiling, and active.
Harry is survived by his five children: Brenda (Simon), Kelly (Tiffany), Suzanne, Terry (Marianne), and Cheryl (Tony).
He will also be lovingly remembered by his ten grandchildren: Anita (Stan), Stephen (Annie), Rebecca (Norman), Jessica (Mike), Jennifer (Phil), Nicole (Eugene), Cory (Corrine), Matthew, Jasmine, Christopher, and his exceptional seventeen great-grandchildren.
Harry is also survived by his beloved sister and brother-in-law: Betty and Joe Leong of Calgary.
Harry will be dearly missed and remembered by all who loved him. His love will stay in our hearts always, and his memory will be treasured forever.
In lieu of all floral arrangements, a memorial contribution may be made directly to the family.
