Haydee Cecilia González de Hernández

Haydee Cecilia González de Hernández passed away in Calgary at the Foothills Medical Centre on Wednesday, June 3, 2026 at the age of 82. She was born in Caracas, Venezuela to Ana Mora & Juan González. She was the second of four siblings: Judith, Nelson and Tibisay.

During her late teen years, she studied stenography typing and got a job as a secretary in Grandes Molinos de Venezuela (Gramoven). In 1970, she married the love of her life Orlando José Hernández Urbáez. They had two children: Orlhay and Orlando. Haydee was fierce in the development and betterment of her family. For years, she sold fashionable women clothes from Creaciones Nova to neighbours and friends. She herself wore a lot of Creaciones Nova’s clothes, as she was a fashionista and loved dressing up. Haydee enjoyed travelling, and the family took yearly trips to Margarita Island, Carupano (Orlando’s hometown), as well as other places in Venezuela, Colombia and Aruba.

She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Orlhay (Bob Dang) and Orlando (Lilian Oliveros), her grandson Lucas, and her living siblings Nelson (Militza Manaure) and Tibisay.

Haydee was predeceased by her beloved husband, Orlando, on July 29, 2024. Orlando dedicated his life to Haydee and cared for her and her well-being until his last breath.

A Memorial Mass in Spanish will be held at Mary, Mother of the Redeemer, 1714 - 14 Avenue N.E., Calgary, on Friday, June 12, 2026, at 4:30 p.m.
