She is also survived by her brother Doug and numerous nieces and nephews. Hazel is predeceased by her parents John and Irene Dippel and brother Harvey.
Hazel was born in Calgary on April 13, 1941 to John and Irene Dippel (nee Kromm). She attended Ramsay and Colonel Walker schools. Hazel worked for AGT before marrying Ken in 1961 and settling in to raise their children. She had a love of sports, especially baseball, which she played from a young age. In 1969 Ken and Hazel moved from Calgary to an acreage near Davisburg, Alberta where they made many friends. Hazel volunteered with Davisburg Community Center and DeWinton Riding Club. She was an avid curler for many years and continued the sport when they moved back to Calgary in 1991. Hazel loved camping and fishing and went as often as possible. They loved meeting new people on their travels, where many joined Ken and Hazel for camping morning ‘eye-openers’.
The family would like to extend our heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the staff at Southwood Hospice for their kindness, patience and compassionate care.
