Ida was born September 29, 1933 to proud parents Fredrick and Emelia Nickolas in Hanna, Alberta. She was the fifth child of ten.
Ida left Hanna, Alberta with her parents at the age of two and moved north to Athabasca, Alberta. As a teenager Ida moved to Edmonton, Alberta and worked as a waitress. At the age of 20, she moved to Calgary, Alberta where she worked at Greyhound and met the love of her life, Clarence Poole (Bud) in Bowness Park. Ida married Bud on April 2, 1955 and as a team they worked to raise their family.
Ida was always quick to lend a helping hand. Whether it was making a meal or picking rocks in a field, she was someone you could always count on. Ida loved family, friends and most especially, her husband of 69 years, Bud.
She will be greatly missed by her daughter Sharon (Vincent) Klinot, son Gary Poole; her grandchildren Mitchell (Elyce), Nicole (Don), Patricia (Adam), Matthew, Renny (Jennifer), Martin (Coral); great-grandchildren Liam, Isla, Tyson, Stella, Scarlett and great-great-grandson Sid.
Ida is survived by her sisters Ann, Val, Donna and brothers Walter, Erwin and Ronald.
She is predeceased by her husband Clarence (Bud), her parents, Fredrick and Emelia and her sisters, Ruth, Irene and Violet.
Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at a Visitation to be held at FOSTER’S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary, Alberta (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Friday, February 21, 2025 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
A Funeral Service will be held at FOSTER’S GARDEN CHAPEL, on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at 10:00 a.m.
Interment will follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
