Jacqueline V Pham

Jacqueline Pham Thị Vinh passed away peacefully, though suddenly, on Tuesday September 13th, 2022 at the age of 90, at the Father Lacombe Care Center in Calgary, Alberta, where she has resided since October 15th, 2021.

Our dearly beloved mother, grandmother, and teacher, was predeceased by her husband of 59 years Phạm Huy Loan on February 27, 2020.

Her children Nga (Bao) of San Diego, CA, Eric (Loan) of Ottawa, ON, Christine of Fresno, CA, and Linda (Dean) of Calgary, AB; her granddaughters Danielle, Catherine, Linh, My, Angie, and Carey-Ann.

Jacqueline was born in Hai Phong City, Vietnam on June 21, 1932. She held a B.Sc. of Education, major in French from the University of Saigon and taught French Language at Trưng Vương High School in Saigon, South Vietnam. After the fall of South Vietnam in 1975, Jacqueline and her family journeyed as boat refugees from Saigon to Malaysia and were generously sponsored to immigrate to Canada in 1979 by the Maranatha Christian Reform Church of Lethbridge, AB and the Canadian Government. Jacqueline worked hard as a Vietnamese translator, helping numerous Vietnamese refugee families, and as a French teacher to help to support the family. She instilled her strong work ethic, respect for the rule of law, love, and generosity in her children.

Jacqueline Pham Thị Vinh will be dearly missed and her teachings and compassion will live on in her children and grandchildren.

A traditional Vietnamese funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 24th at 11am, after which Jacqueline’s ashes will be laid to rest with her Dad’s ashes at a Buddhist temple in Montreal, QC at a later date.
