Adventurous, fun-loving, generous, mischievous, and hard-working. Jim grew up on a farm in Symons Valley. Upon leaving school, he worked on the family farm while getting his fixed wing and helicopter endorsements. He flew for Klondike Helicopters and did the CFCN air traffic patrol. After our father’s death, Jim returned to the farm, and drove a school bus for Cardinal Coach for sixteen years. He did security work for Heritage Park before enlisting with Canadian Armoured Car and then Brinks until he retired.
Jim liked to travel (Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Caribbean, and Hawaii). He loved flying, skydiving, scuba-diving and target shooting. He loved organizing and competing in Alberta School Bus Roadeos. He took one of the last flights on the Concord. He volunteered with Saint John’s Ambulance, and he donated his body to the University of Calgary Medical School.
He loved working with young people. He was a legion member. Boston Pizza and Buzz Time was his happy place.
He was predeceased by his parents, George and Margaret Fairweather; his nephew Micheil Campbell; and his cousins Allan and Nancy Fraser.
Jim will be missed by his sister Dianne, Brian Campbell and Lisa (Brock) McPherson. Also mourning are the Fraser Family, Cecil (Pam), Gail, James (Liz), Chris, Colin, Tim (Kate), Sheldon (Diane), Amy (Joe) Robson, and Alana (Jarrett) Harbidge.
He leaves behind his furry friends, Greta and Chester.
Thanks to all that visited and supported Jim in his final days. You made his passing easier.
