John passed away peacefully on February 17, 2016. He enjoyed golfing, curling and the occasional game of bridge with his friends. John is survived by his children Ken (Cheryl), Sylvia, Brent (Sharon); sister Donna and family. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Kandice, Kory, Casey (Nigel), Cody (Angie), Marla (James) and Christian; and four great-grandchildren, Ruby, Violet, Amelia, Felix and one eagerly anticipated. John was predeceased by his wife Ellen; parents William and Mary and his brothers William and Henry.
A Memorial Gathering will be held at SOUTH CALGARY FUNERAL CENTRE, 12700 Macleod Trail South (at Lake Fraser Gate), on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations being made in John’s memory directly to the Kidney Foundation, (6007 – 1A Street SW, Calgary, AB T2H 0G5) or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, (100, 119 14 Street NW, Calgary, AB T2N 1Z6).
