John Carmen Roberts born on August 7, 1920, died at peace in his home, but awoke to be home with his Lord on Monday, February 2, 2015 at the age of 94 years. Carm successfully owned and operated JC Roberts Jewellers for more than 60 years. Before that, Carm, a Cape Bretoner by heritage, native to Calgary, graduate of Western Canada Collegiate, served in the RCAF as an instrument mechanic which sparked his interest in watch repairs – a horologist. After his subsequent education at Elgin Watch College, Elgin Illinois, Carm returned to Calgary to begin his life’s work, married Gertrude Foster (nee Ramsay) in 1949, set up his own shop in 1952, and together they raised 7 children. Left behind is his dear wife of 65 years, Gertrude, 6 of his 7 children, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. A Memorial service to celebrate Carm Roberts’s life will be at Northmount Baptist Church 451 Northmount Drive N.W.
