Mr. John Robert Saunders

SAUNDERS- John Robert, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 1, 2004 at the age of 85 years. John is survived by his loving wife Hazel and children; Shirley-Ann (Dick) Molner, Rob (June), Greg (Sandi), Tim (Kathy), Ken, Jo-Ann (Ron) McKeown and Nola (Edwin) Gutsche. John will also be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his eighteen grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by his son Fred, mother, father and two sisters. John was born December 27, 1918 in Calgary, he graduated from S.A.I.T. in 1936 as a Stationary Steam Engineer. He joined the Canadian Army Medical Reserve in 1939 and transferred to the Navy in 1942 and left in 1945. He retired from CIL Explosives in 1982. John was an avid bowler and a long time member of The Calgary Rock and Lapidary Club and was one of the founding members of The Faceters Guild.

A Celebration of Life will be held at FOSTER’S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Sunday, September 5, 2004 at 1:00 p.m.
