Jonas was born on February 14, 1973, in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, to Robert and Evelyn Tremel. He was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Nadine, with whom he shared 23 years of marriage after marrying on November 9, 2002.
Jonas was known for his leadership, humour, integrity, dedication to his family, and his natural ability to both learn and teach. He was always willing to support those around him and brought a steady presence wherever he went.
Jonas studied Electrical Engineering Technology at Saskatchewan Polytechnic in Moose Jaw. For the past 25 years, he worked at Millenia Engineering in Calgary, where he served as Electrical/Controls Technologist Manager.
He was a proud father to Dylan and Hailey and found immense joy in supporting his children in the sports they loved. He travelled the world with his family, always encouraging them to chase their dreams. Jonas also loved sharing his own passions, especially fishing and hunting. He found peace outdoors with friends and family, whether teaching others or simply casting a line into the river on a quiet evening.
Jonas was also a dedicated volunteer, both in his community and within the BMX community. He dedicated his heart and energy to creating a welcoming space for everyone, whether newcomers or longtime participants. He believed deeply in BMX, the riders, and the strength of the community. His encouragement, generosity, and steady leadership helped shape countless memories on and off the track across Canada and the United States.
Jonas brought laughter and warmth into the lives of all who knew him. His kindness, humour, dedication, and love will be deeply missed by his family and friends, and he will remain forever in their hearts.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
“Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.”
