February 19, 1927 - December 13, 2010
Aunt Joe, as her family knew her, left us this week at age 83. Josie was preceded by her husband Samuel Elliott and her sisters, Ruth Watson and Grace Wylie. She was born in Edmonton and moved to Calgary with her family at age 3. During her younger years Josie was a cartoonist, window display artist at Parisian Clothing and an elevator operator in several of the downtown Calgary businesses. She loved to go biking with her husband, Sam, on his Harley. If they weren't touring the western provinces on his bike they were in the mountains during the winter on their skidoo. Aunt Joe was always one to enter a radio contest, go to Bingo, and venture out to garage sales. She was an avid Calgary Flames fan. Aunt Joe thought it was quite a treat to be on the Flames float for the Santa Parade a few years back. She was a great believer in animal protection. Her biggest love was the many cats she had over the years. Aunt Joe is survived by her two nieces; Terry Carrigan (George) and Jane Clayton (Bob); four great nephews John, Jim, Doug and Ken, one great niece, Tracy; three great great nephews Ryan, Kole and Nolan and two great great nieces, Samantha and Isabelle.
Those we love can never be,
More than a thought apart,
For as long as there's a memory,
They live on in our hearts.
At Josie’s request no formal funeral service will be held.
