

Lin was born on July 19, 1920 in Canton, China. She came to Canada in 1950 with her husband Fred. After living in Dawson Creek, British Columbia for a short time, they settled in Calgary where they raised their family of 5 sons. Lin and Fred were entrepreneurs, first opening a small grocery store on 17th Avenue SW and later opening the China Clipper Restaurant in Glamorgan Shopping Center. Lin worked mainly as a cook in many Calgary restaurants. She enjoyed visiting with her friends at the Gee How Oak Tin Association and raising her family. Lin and Fred were active members of the Association, with Lin becoming the first female board member.
Lin had 5 sons, 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Fred, her son Phillip and her sister Gnun. She is survived by her sons George (Elizabeth), Charlie, David (Corinne), and Larry (Jill); her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers Tom (May) and Daniel (Pamela) in Calgary; as well as a number of siblings in Hong Kong and many nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service will be held at FOSTER’S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Friday, May 19, 2017 at 12:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made directly to Diabetes Canada, www.diabetes.ca.
