Loan is survived by his loving wife of 58 years Jacqueline Vinh Pham; his children Nga (Bao) of San Diego, CA, Eric (Loan) of Ottawa, ON, Christine of Fresno, CA, and Linda (Dean) of Calgary, AB; his granddaughters Danielle, Catherine, Linh, My, Angie, and Carey-Ann.
Loan was born in Nam Dinh City, Vietnam in 1937. He held a B.Sc. in Science from the University of Saigon and taught high-school physics and chemistry at Gia-Long school in Saigon, Vietnam. After the fall of South Vietnam in 1975, Loan and his family journeyed as refugees from Saigon to Malaysia and were generously sponsored to immigrate to Canada in 1979 by the Canadian Government and the Maranatha Christian Reform Church of Lethbridge, AB. Loan worked hard to support the family and instilled his strong work ethic, respect for the rule of law, love, and generosity in his children. Loan loved nature and the outdoors which provide so much joy and peace in his retirement.
Loan will be dearly missed and his teachings and compassion will live on in his children and grandchildren.
A private family funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 7, after which Loan's ashes will be laid to rest with his ancestors in Nam Dinh City, Vietnam at a later date.
The family would like to express our profound and sincere gratitude to the staff at Southwood Hospice and Aspen Silvera Lodge, Dr. Dina Radinskaia, Dr Jeremy Debruyn, Dr Richard Barr, and Dr Tina Cheng.
