April 23, 1930-September 5, 2017
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our Mom. She was a hard-working, caring and unselfish mother and person throughout her life, never hesitating to put her loved ones ahead of herself. Born in Hafford, Saskatchewan into a farming family, Mom was the eldest of 7 children. The family farm was located north of Radisson, Sask., where she lived until 1947. Lorraine then went on to study at Luther College in Regina where she met many lifelong friends. Returning from Regina, she studied at Saskatoon Business College and began her career with the Department of Highways in Saskatoon, eventually retiring from Greyhound in Calgary in 1986. It was in Saskatoon where she met her first husband, Walter Rawlyk and had three children. She is survived by Debra, David (Susan) and Glenda, grandchildren Joy Graver, Joshua (Louise) Graver, Daniel (Whitney) Rawlyk, Mitchell Rawlyk, Katherine Rawlyk, and by one great-granddaughter, Zoey Rawlyk. She is also survived by siblings Eileen Hamilton, Marion (Robert) Creswell, Edwin (Joyce) Bronsch, Angela (Hugh) Farmer, Rodney Bronsch, and numerous nieces and nephews. She is pre-deceased by her parents, Louis and Clara Bronsch, sister, Carol Hamilton, and husband Clayton Hay. The family would like to thank the staff at Newport Harbor for their care and attention to Mom's well-being, Dr.'s Murray and Woodhouse and the care staff in Unit 42 of the PLC who helped ease her in the final days, as well as the staff of Day Medicine at the RGH. A Memorial Service will be held at FOSTER'S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 - 4 Street N.W., Calgary (across from Queen's Park Cemetery) on Monday, September 11, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Saskatoon. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to a charity of choice. Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to the family via the website www.fostersgardenchapel.ca.
