

Louis was predeceased by his parents Alphonse Saucier and Yvonne (nee Schmidt) Saucier; his brothers Edouard (“Ed”-Twin), Bernard (“Bernie”) and Joseph (“Joe”), and his wife Margaret (nee Cushing) Saucier. Also to mourn is his brother Henri of Courtenay, British Columbia and his sister-in-law Nicole Saucier of Ottawa, Ontario. Louis attended Notre Dame College, Wilcox, Saskatchewan (1952-1954). Louis is a lifetime Alumni of the college and received the prestigious Frank Germann Award for his contributions to the College. Louis was the recipient of the Notre Dame College Medal of Honour, as well as receiving posthumously Medal of Honour for his twin Edouard Saucier.
For the past 35 years, Louis was a dedicated volunteer for Notre Dame College. He worked at Bingo’s and Casino’s to provide Bursary Funds for student sponsorships to the College.
Louis and his twin brother Ed, (deceased 2008) were the driving force in the installation of a stained-glass window of Father Athol Murray (Pere) at the St. Augustine Church, Wilcox, SK.
Louis moved to Calgary in 1954, returning to Saskatoon in 1956. The highlight of Louis’s career was his five years with Saskatoon Fire Department. He returned to Calgary in 1962 to work as a travelling salesperson, retiring in 1999 from Marcelle Cosmetics and Neutrogena. Louis was a member if the Metis Nation of Alberta, being a descendant of his great-grandfather, Louis Schmidt, who was Louis Riel’s Secretary.
A Funeral will be held at Holy Spirit Church, 10827 – 24th Street S.W. Calgary, on September 26, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. with a viewing at 10:00 a.m. Cremation to follow. Remains will be interred at the Wilcox Cemetery at Wilcox, SK., Notre Dame Hound Section, next to his twin brother Ed. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Notre Dame College, Bursary Fund, P.O. Box 100, Wilcox, SK. S0G 5E0
