Joanne was born on February 19, 1954 in East York, Ontario to Gordon and Joan Ferguson. She was a beloved spouse, parent, grandparent, sibling and friend and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Joanne grew up in Toronto, Ontario with her siblings and, after finishing school, moved to Calgary, Alberta. There, she met her first husband, Randy, and began a career in the insurance industry. Following the birth of her second son, Daniel, Joanne decided to prioritize raising her young family and left her career in insurance.
Around 2000, she met Tom, who became her devoted partner for over two decades. Joanne was a dedicated mother who always put her family's needs above her own. She had a deep love for the outdoors and spent much of her younger years exploring the beauty of the Alberta Rockies. In her leisure time, Joanne was an avid reader, accumulating an extensive collection of fiction books. She was also a skilled cook, renowned for dishes like Beef Stroganoff, Chicken Cacciatore and her famous chicken wings. She frequently hosted large gatherings for loved ones. Joanne's kind and compassionate nature touched the lives of many, and she will be profoundly missed by all who knew her.
Joanne is survived by her spouse Tom, her sister Linda, her sons Matthew and Daniel and her grandson Sawyer. She was preceded in death by her brothers Steven and Kenneth.
