Małgorzata Piwowarek

Born in 1962 in Hrubieszów, Poland, near the Ukrainian border, Małgorzata was the eldest daughter of farmers Zbigniew and Leokadia Paduch, and the first of their six children. She grew up in the village of Moniatycze and attended college in nearby Horodło. Afterward, through a mutual friend, she met Wojciech Piwowarek, and the two married. When her parents and siblings moved to Canada, Małgorzata and Wojciech stayed behind to run the family farm, raising their children, Łukasz and Marzena.

When Wojciech was tragically taken from them in 1994, Małgorzata met her loss with remarkable strength and determination. She set out to join her family in Canada, emigrating to Calgary in 1996 and working tirelessly to earn her landed immigrant status. Her children joined her in 2000, and Calgary has been home to the family ever since. Driven and hardworking, she took pride in her years of work in maintenance, assembly, and sorting in Calgary’s industrial workplaces.

Małgorzata was happiest with her family gathered around the table. She loved to cook, and her bigos, boiled cheesecake, and many homemade soups brought generations of her family together. She found joy in her flowers and garden, in classic rock music, and in crocheting, a craft she lovingly passed on to her granddaughter Milena. Above all, she adored her grandchildren, Milena and Nikolaj, and treasured every moment with them.

She will be deeply missed by her daughter Marzena and son Łukasz; her sisters Alina, Maryla, Marzena, and Dorota; and her brother Andrzej. She will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Milena and Nikolaj. She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Wojciech.

Funeral Service will be held at FOSTER’S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery), on Friday, October 30th, 2026, at 10 a.m.

Interment to follow in Eden Brook Memorial Gardens.
