Marg was a strong, independent woman her entire life, raising two kids alone and working a demanding job. After being diagnosed with lung cancer, she continued to battle right up to her final days.
Marg grew up on her family farm in rural Saskatchewan during the depression era, helping where needed, and always having a soft spot for the horses. After graduating from grade 12, she and her twin sister Mary attended nursing school, becoming the first in their family to go to university. Marg graduated with the highest marks in her class and became a Registered Nurse. She worked at several hospitals, where she cared for thousands of patients over her 40 year career, and she was always a favourite among patients and staff. In addition, she was a dedicated single mother, unconditionally caring for and sacrificing many things for her children.
In later years, she was an amazing Gramma to all her grandkids, especially loving to beat them at Pictionary! Marg loved camping at her land in the Crowsnest Pass and we will forever cherish our memories made there. All her children and grandchildren were lucky enough to spend this last July long weekend camping together with her.
Left to mourn Marg are her children and their spouses, David & Melodie Reid, Rhonda & Mike Lyons; her grandchildren, Calum and Abbey Reid, Matt, Cassidy and Kaylie Lyons; her beloved "twinnie" Mary Ancelet; sister Gwen Lacerte; sister-in-law Gladys Fitzgerald, as well as numerous other relatives.
Our family wishes to thank Tara and the Palliative Home Care Team at AHS and the nurses at Bayshore for all their amazing care. We'd also like to thank the wonderful staff at Dulcina Hospice, who treated Marg with such love in her last few days.
