

Mario is survived by his six children, Toni (Al), Mario (Linda), Susan (Ron), Madalene (Art), Gary (Jannine), and Michael; as well as grandchildren, Danielle, Lori (Darren), Lisa (Drew), Jeff (Natalie), Greg, and Katy (Tyler); eight great-grandchildren; two sisters Mary and Rosie and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife Magdalena, “Blondie”, his parents Francesco and Vittoria, his brother Frank, and sister Kay.
Mario loved his hometown of Nordegg and his horses, but his real passion was hockey which he played until the age of 90. He played with his sons, grandsons, nephews, and friends as well as with the Calgary 55+ Old-timers. His fondest memories were playing in the Snoopy Tournaments in California. Mario always had a story to share and a musical ditty to play on his accordion.
Prayers will be held at Foster’s Garden Chapel 3220 – 4 Street N.W. on Sunday, November 3, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. To honour Mario’s love of hockey everyone is encouraged to wear a hockey jersey.
A Funeral Mass will be Celebrated at Canadian Martyrs Catholic Church, 835 Northmount Drive N.W on Monday, November 4, 2019 at 11:00 a.m.
Heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses and caregivers of Special Services Unit 47 at Foothills Hospital and to Dr. Lemieux, Dr. Pickering and the Palliative Care Team at Rosedale Hospice.
