Marion Helen Claxton, age 87, passed peacefully in Calgary, AB on February 8, 2017. She is predeceased by her husband, her parents, and brother, Robert. Marion will be reunited with her husband, Norman L. Claxton. She is survived by her brother, Gerald Rowsome.
Marion will be missed by her sons Edward W. Claxton, Robert N.G. Claxton, and daughter, Connie L. Claxton; grandsons Anthony MacDonald (Karla), and August Claxton.
Marion and Norman were married on April 5, 1947, in Brockville, Ont. As a military wife and loving supporter of her husband’s career, Marion travelled with the family to various postings. Her favorite posting was Germany, where she was able to enjoy being with family and extensively traveling throughout Europe.
Upon the families return to Calgary in 1970, Marion worked at the University of Calgary for 20 years as the supervisor of Cafeteria Services. Always a person to help her community, she became an active member and officer in the Royal Canadian Legion Calgary Branch 264. Both Marion and her husband were supporters of the Trans-Canada Trail.
Marion will be remembered for her love of travel, dance and Johnny Cash.

Memorial Service will be held at SOUTH CALGARY FUNERAL CENTRE, 12700 Macleod Trail South, on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donation can be made in Marion’s memory directly to the Royal Canadian Legion Poppy Fund, the Calgary Humane Society, or the AgeCare, Beverly Centre Glenmore.
