Marlene Winnifred Lucente

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Marlene Winnifred Lucente (née Lovelace), who left us on the evening of Wednesday, June 10, 2026, to be with our Lord and Saviour. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and cousin, she lives on in our hearts and memories and will be profoundly missed.

Born in Calgary on December 5, 1934, Marlene married Rocco Dominic Lucente on October 1, 1955, and together they raised five children. She loved her family, animals, art, and music. She had an adventurous spirit—sharing stories of escapades on motorcycles—and a generous heart.

Marlene shared her artistic gifts widely, creating graphic art for church bulletins and designing storefront window displays, including festive artwork for Rocky’s Husky during the Vernon Winter Carnival. She and Rocky also operated a real estate company in Blairmore for several years.

Lovelace and Lucente family members fondly remember the happy chaos of birthdays, Christmas, and every celebration of life spent together. Marlene and Rocky loved to host, and for them, the more the merrier.

A Graveside Service will be held in Blairmore at the New Union Cemetery on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at 1:00 p.m.

A Tea for family and friends to gather to remember Marlene will be held at the Centre Street Church in Calgary mid-July. Specific date, time, and directions to follow.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Bethany Care Cochrane and St. Teresa Place Calgary for their compassionate care of our mom over the past 12 years.
