Martino Giuseppe Di Alessandro

Martino Giuseppe Di Alessandro, dearly loved husband of Francesca Di Alessandro (nee Marini) of Calgary, AB, passed away peacefully surrounded by the caring staff of the Bethany Riverview Care Center on Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at the age of 84.

Martino was born on November 11, 1936 to parents Antonio Di Alessandro and Serafina Di Francesco in Rocca Santa Maria, Teramo, Italy.

He migrated to Canada in 1955 and married the love of his life Francesca in 1960. They were married for 60 years and had three beautiful children. Martino was proud of his vegetable garden and loved sharing his yearly harvest with his family and friends. He enjoyed afternoons at the horse races, bowling with his friends and playing cards. He was also an avid sports fan who enjoyed watching F1, soccer and football with a passion for hockey and the Montreal Canadiens. During his time living in Ottawa, he owned the family’s favourite hangout, Café Roma serving the best sandwiches and coffee around. Martino was also proud of his 45-year career in construction where he built many of the structures and sidewalks within Calgary that we still use today.

Besides his loving wife of sixty years, Francesca, Martino is survived by his daughter, Serafina (predeceased by Enzo Carlesimo) and two sons Antonio Di Alessandro and Carlo Di Alessandro (Kristina); his four grandchildren, Salvatore (Ashley), Carlo (Maddison), Adrian and Clara and his great-granddaughter Keightyn. He is also survived by extended family members and numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws both in Canada and Italy.
