She will be lovingly remembered by her sons Arthur and Robert; sisters Katherine, Joan and Barbara; grandchildren Sandra and Arthur; great grandchildren Joshua, Katrina and Kyle and grandson-in-law Darren. Renie was predeceased by her husband Arthur in 2017; sisters Margaret and Agatha; brothers Edmund and Bill and granddaughter Tammy in 2017.
Born Irene Arsenault, daughter of Phil and Sadie Arsenault, Renie grew up in St. Nicholas, PEI where she met the love of her life Arthur Albert Quinn in February 1941 while he was stationed at #9 Service Flying Training School in Summerside, PEI. They were married 5 months later in June 1941. Many years and various RCAF bases later, Renie and Arthur moved to Calgary in 1981 to be with family and help raise their grandchildren.
There is not enough words to express Renie’s devotion to family and friends. Renie was the salt of the earth, loving, caring, gracious and sharp witted, always with a new joke when you visited. Renie never complained and was always faithful in her beliefs, gracious in her longevity and a wonderful grandmother. Renie and Arthur exemplified the meaning of marriage with 76 years together. They spent their summers on the lakes of British Columbia well into their nineties boating, fishing and hiking including 24 of those years in Crawford Bay. We are blessed to have known Renie, to have been a part of her century filled with love and understanding, family and friends; to have laughed, cried, grown and admired. Nighty night…Nighty night, until tomorrow. You will never be forgotten.
