Maureen Thelma McRae
11 November, 1938 – 13 April, 2020
Maureen Thelma (nee Harper) McRae passed away suddenly on April 13, 2020. Maureen’s very large and amazing heart stopped and she left this world to meet her Creator.
She was 81 years old. Maureen was a faithful follower and member of the Salvation Army church in all of the communities in which she lived. She was actively involved in women’s groups, prayer groups, and back in the day - she was a Cub Scout leader.
Maureen grew up in Winnipeg, Manitoba, where she met and married Duncan. They were married for 61 years this year and they cared for, cherished, respected and loved each other deeply. They lived and experienced the various wonders of Northern Canada, Ontario (Elora) and ultimately ended up out west in Calgary, Vancouver, and finally in High River, Alberta for the last 12 years.
Maureen is lovingly remembered by her husband Duncan Charles, their three children and six grandchildren: Duncan Jr., his wife Michelle, and their girls Silvana and Mattea; Marni McRae and her children Michael (Sherri) Cash, Meghan Mackenzie (Chad Parker), and Kodi McRae (Ken Manske); and Nicole (Rod) Macklin, and their daughter Roen. Maureen is also survived by her brother Garth (Merna) Harper.
It cannot be contained within this short biography, the size of Maureen’s love, spirit and life. Truly all who knew her loved her and was loved by her. She gave of herself freely, without judgement and with only love. She loved her children greatly, her grandchildren even more.
There will be no funeral service at this time, in light of social distancing.

I was shocked and saddened when I called to wish Maureen a happy mother's day on Sunday May 9, 2020 only to be informed that she was not there.
Maureen and Duncan had considered me a son, they were my "parents" at my wedding. Considered my kids as their grand kids.
Maureen was such a loving, kind and caring person. She made anyone she met feel at home.
My condolences to Duncan (dad) and the rest of the family.

Dear Duncan and family:
How your hearts must ache to have to say good-bye to such a lovely lady. We always remember Maureen as being fun-loving and full of laughter in the years we knew her. And we smile to think of her delight and surprise to suddenly find herself in the arms of Jesus!
It's in the hope of His resurrection that we send our love and condolences.

There are no words to describe the loss I feel. She was my beloved Friend whom I shall miss dearly. Not only was she a Friend but my Spiritual mentor. I learned so much from her. We had so many great times together and good laughter while camping. So many wonderful memories. My Faith in God is stronger because of the guidance and wisdom she gave. I miss you my Friend. Till we meet again. I love you. Ruth

I remember Maureen and Duncan as ‘bus captains’ for our bus ministry when I was youth officer at Glenmore Temple. Maureen was a lovely Spirit-filled person whose generosity affected all her relationships! I was privileged to have known her.
I was so thrilled when she gave Catherine and I a beautiful banner as a wedding gift that she had crafted - its focus was the Cross, with the word “PEACE” ... the banner has been displayed in every church we have been appointed in these last 30 years!
What a wonderful welcome Home Maureen has received from her Savior!
My prayers for God’s comfort for Duncan and the family during these days...

I was very saddened to hear of Maureen’s passing. Duncan Jr. & Sr. are in my thoughts and prayers. Duncan describes her as having a bigger than life heart. I’d like to think her love made her heart big - and grow. Even though Duncan and Maureen moved away, they are never far from our thoughts; they loved us, and our kids as though we were family - even taking us camping. I’m filled with fond memories. My heart goes out to you all, especially during these challenging days. Maureen is not forgotten.

We have so many wonderful and special memories. She was so generous with her love and care for our family. I still have and cherish each of the poems she wrote for various events in my life, especially the one she wrote when Sheldon passed away. I am sure they are having a wonderful time together with Mom in heaven. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time. Lots of love, Terry & Pam
