Mike is remembered and honoured by so many amazing extended family and friends that loved and supported him not only during his diagnosis of pancreatic cancer but through a life filled with many adventures and lasting memories. Mike was predeceased by his parents Paul and Jean Cardell, niece Kandace Cardell and mother-in-law Dene Baldwin.
Proud to be a native Calgarian, sports played a large part of Mike’s life. His love of the outdoors started a running passion that continued throughout his battle of over 2 years. He continued to run, walk, swim, bike or ski and more, always believing he could be faster than his disease which he fought with strength, determination and always a sense of humour. His contagious laugh, smile and love of life are legendary.
The family would like to thank the Tom Baker Cancer Centre especially Dr. Jay Easaw, Sally Lim and all the staff that worked with Mike who believed and advocated for his cure; his Arcis work family that embraced and allowed Mike to carry on when possible in a job and industry that he so very much loved; to our many family and friends, there are no words for all that was and continues to be given.
Mike had so many accomplishments in his life but family and friends were the closest to his heart.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at Lutheran Church of the Cross, 10620 Elbow Drive SW on Saturday, March 21, 2015 at 2pm.
