Myrna Getty

Myrna Getty passed away on July 5, 2011 at the Carewest Sarcee Hospice in Calgary at the age of 71 years. Myrna is lovingly remembered by her daughter Leah Getty (Stewart Hislop) and her two sons, Wayne Getty Jr. of Calgary and Michael Getty of Salt Lake City; granddaughters Victoria and Olivia Hislop of Calgary; brothers Floyd (Ruth) Johnson of Pigeon Lake and Mark (Marilyn) Johnson of Edmonton.

Myrna was born in Fairview, Alberta on August 31, 1939 and raised primarily in Edmonton. She graduated in pharmacy from the University of Alberta and worked a long and dedicated career as a pharmacist in Calgary until her retirement from Zeller’s pharmacy in 2006.

She had a lifelong love of animals and a second vocation as a breeder of champion Yorkshire terriers through Eboracum Kennels which she co-owned with close friend Helen Hoisington.

Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate Myrna’s life at an open house at the residence of Leah Getty (238 Valley Glen Bay NW, Calgary) on Saturday, July 9, 2011 beginning at 3:00 p.m.
