Myrtle Irene Glydon

Myrtle is the beloved wife of Stanley Ross Glydon, Calgary AB. and was predeceased by her husband Stanley during the spring of 2025. Myrtle was also predeceased by her parents Herman and Rosina Born, her son Douglas Ross Glydon, sisters’ Irma Lake, Addie Metzler, brother’s Alex Born and Wilfred Born.

Myrtle is survived by her daughter Wendy MacMillan (nee Glydon), her sons Garth (Frances) Glydon, Dale (Chris) Glydon, as well as seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Myrtle was born on a farm located in a beautiful farming community a few kilometers north of Windthorst, Saskatchewan, at the beginning of the great depression.

Stanley and Myrtle had a life constantly filled with change, adventure and new opportunities and our family was glad to have participated in their journey during our early years. We lived in Kipling SK, Smeaton SK, Eston SK, Regina SK, Saskatoon SK, Winnipeg MB, Campbell River BC, and Nanaimo BC.

Following Stanley’s retirement from Hub Island Co-op (Nanaimo, Vancouver Island), Stanley and Myrtle settled in Marysville (Kimberly) BC, and then a couple years later relocated to Sardis BC before finally settling down in Strathmore AB where they lived until 2019. They moved to the Prince of Peace Retirement Residence located in NE Calgary in 2019. A need for increased medical care required Myrtle to relocate to AgeCare Midnapore/Shawnee in 2024 where she resided until her passing.

Myrtle was an active member of the Strathmore United Church. In addition to being a great wife and mother, Myrtle participated in many work and volunteer activities throughout the years to help support our family and the communities where we lived. Myrtle was a superb baker and renowned for her cinnamon buns, raison butter tarts, jumbo raison cookies, pies and various bread products to numerous to mention.

Myrtle will be interred beside her husband Stanley and son Douglas at the Brookfield Cemetery in Winnipeg at a date to be determined shortly.

Our family would like to express our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Andrea Cullingham and the incredible health care aids, nurses, and staff and working at AgeCare Midnapore (recently relocated to a new building called AgeCare Shawnee) where Myrtle has been a valued resident for the past 2 years.

Finally, we would like to thank the management and staff working at the South Calgary Funeral Centre for the kind, caring and professional support provided to our family to determine and complete the final arrangements for Myrtle.
