Nancie Belle Havens passed away peacefully in the presence of her family on Monday
(Family Day), February 20, 2012, at the age of 84 years young. She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Doug, of sixty-three years. Children; Arlene (Ken) Guzda, Maxine (Ken) Woywitka and Walter (Colleen) Havens. Nancie was predeceased by her daughter, Dr. Barbara Ann Havens-Lees. She will also be sadly missed by her 10 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, her sister Pearlie Jewel Taks and numerous nieces, nephews and special friends. Her many legacies include her love and support of her family which she showed through her cooking and mentoring of her children and grandchildren, along with supporting the grandchildren at their various hockey and ringette events. Doug and Nancie always made sure their children had summer vacations and this included Nancie always being at the helm of the ‘Nancie Belle’ water skiing boat, as she put aside her fear of water for her children’s enjoyment. Nancie will always be remembered for her hard work ethic from housework to fieldwork, gardening and mowing, even through her many health challenges. As was Nancie’s wish, a Private Family Celebration will be held. Our family has sincerely appreciated all of the love, support and understanding received over the years. If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made directly to the Arthritis Society, 200, 1301 – 8 Street S.W. Calgary, AB T2R 1B7. Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to the family via the website www.fostersgardenchapel.ca.
