Nestor John Svarich passed away peacefully on June 1, 2011, surrounded by family at the Chinook Hospice in Calgary, Alberta at the age of 82 years. Nestor was born in Vegreville, Alberta and lived his early life in this northern Alberta small town. He graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Science degree and began his early career in Western Canada's seismic industry, affectionately known as doodlebuggers. As a geophysicist he worked for both large and small oil & gas companies and in his latter years as a consultant. Nestor and wife June of fifty-four years enjoyed their Collingwood home since having it built in 1960. For many years Nestor was a proud and passionate member of the Calgary Philharmonic Choir. He also enjoyed a membership in the Calgary Science Astronomy Club, as well as being an avid participant in "The Canoe Club" which he shared with his son Terry, and grandson Nicholas and his treasured canoe club friends. Nestor's love of family was always foremost, accompanied with his love of music. He was an avid gardener, enjoyed birds, and his "paradise" cabin at Mabel Lake where he was so very happy with friends and family. Nestor is survived by his son Terry (Judy), grandson Nicholas and granddaughter Natalie; and daughter Dianne (Mike), granddaughters Vanessa and Leanne. He is also survived by sister Staffka Makofka, sisters-in-Iaw Norma (Elmer) Thiessen and Doreen Hoffman, brother-in-law Ray (Joan) Hoffman, and many nieces, nephews and friends. Nestor was a warm and wonderful husband, father and brother, a passionately proud grandfather and special Uncle as well as good friend with Emmanuel and Bill. To all who knew him, his gentle kindness and strength of integrity will always be remembered.
