Ngan Ping Eng (née Louie) passed away peacefully on Monday, January 6, 2025. Ngan Ping was born in Taishan, Guangdong, China on February 3, 1939. She moved to Canada in 1961. Shortly after marrying Danny Duck Man Eng in Vancouver, British Columbia she moved to Calgary, Alberta in 1962 where she lived for the rest of her life.
Raising three children and babysitting the children of her many cousins kept her busy for many years. Ngan Ping was a talented seamstress, often sewing clothing for her family and friends. She later worked as a seamstress for Caravan Manufacturing and its successor companies from 1971 to 1991.
She enjoyed making dumplings, steamed buns and cooking for her family. Her vegetable garden kept her busy in the summers.
Ngan Ping is survived by her three children: Harry, May (Kari), and Warren; her two grandchildren, Kelsey and Spencer, whom she loved very much. She is predeceased by her husband, Danny in 2019; parents, Fat Chin Louie and Chun Ngor Ma; and brother, Woodman Louie.
The family would like to thank Dr. Kemp, Dr. Lo and the Unit 68 staff at the South Health Campus in Calgary for making Ngan Ping’s last days comfortable and respectful.
In keeping with her wishes, no formal service will be held.
