I knew Norma through LSU church.
She was a wonderful, genuinely caring woman.
I treasure the time I knew her.

I first met Mum in 1979 when I was 16 and started dating her son Ian, back when she was still Mrs. Johnston. When I found out that she worked at Glamorgan Drugs, I knew our paths had surely crossed prior to meeting Ian since I was going to school across the street and visited the drugstore quite often.When I first heard her addressed by her first name, I was shocked because my Mom's name was Norma! When I asked Ian what her middle name was and he told me it was Irene, I'm sure I called him a liar because my Mom's middle name was Irene! And I knew then it was destiny!
Mum was always loving and kind. She always asked questions about me and my family and was genuinely interested in me. She was there for me when my Norma Irene passed away suddenly and we bonded over the fact that we had both lost our mothers at an early age.
And she welcomed me into her family right off and taught me that it wasn't her family or my family…it was our family.
Once we moved to Ontario, we only had visits once or twice a year and we made every moment count. She even joined us for a lovely vacation to the Dominican.
When we moved back to Alberta, I got the opportunity to get to know Mum on a different level and I even had the pleasure of nursing her after one of her infamous falls. We had many meaningful conversations about things that were important to both of us, and chats about things that were silly and fun. She was adventurous and willing to try many things including traversing the Capilano Suspension Bridge in her 80's!
She started my love of golf by giving my first set of clubs and taught me alot about the game.
She was a loving mother in law, Grandmother and friend. I learned alot from her and miss her dearly.

We want to offer our deepest sympathy and condolences to the family. Norma was a wonderful neighbour and a truly caring individual. We have fond memories of her and Jim and the time we spent together. She was a strong woman with a great faith and was was admired by so many of us.

Norma led many Womens' bible studies and I will remember her with love and kindness for bringing us together in fellowship and community.

So sorry to hear of Norma’s passing.  She was always a good friend to my Mom.  Whether  it be at Sienna Park, Living Spirit or a chance meeting at the hairdresser, you could always count on Norma for a big smile and a hug.  Our condolences to all the family.

I was so saddened to hear of Norma’s passing.
She was was a kind and joyful soul and loved by all her friends and fellow golfers at Elbow Springs Golf Club.  She and Jim organized and ran the Friday “Fun Nights” and these nights were truly fun.  Norma was also active in the Ladies Section where we all shared many laughs and made wonderful memories with her.  
Norma has been a cherished blessing in many people’s lives and her friends at Elbow Springs are grateful to be among those people.



Norma was my mentor at Living Spirit United and I treasure those conversations we had and what she taught me.  She was a beautiful soul.  

My thoughts are with her family and friends.

So sorry to hear about Norma. A truly remarkable lady. We had so many good times with her and Jim at Valley Ridge. Then later when Don and I moved into Sienna Park she made us feel so welcome. She will be missed by many! My condolences to all members of her family.

I have only known Norma over the past few months since she moved into Royal Park but we all feel like we had known her forever. She made her mark on so many hearts and this week has been one of tears and laughter and sharing stories of how much she touched us all in such a short time. We can only imagine how much you all will miss her.

Auntie Norma is a special soul who touched so many. Always a smile. Always a hug. Always cheese buns :) The world was blessed to have her and my mom and our family was blessed by their relationship. I will miss her dearly and I am sending deepest  condolences to everyone who loved her. May you rest in peace with the angels Auntie. XO 

Norma was a fixture at our weekly Ladies Day at Elbow Springs Golf Club.  Years previous, she & Jim were always coordinating the fun & frivolity at the Friday Fun Nights as well. Time marches on & we will miss them both out at the golf course. May they both be in Heaven, where the ball flies true & the putts are always in the cup.

What a beautiful picture and tribute . My heart goes out to you on your loss. Your Mom was a very special lady. She opened her home to Larry, myself and our children when we moved to Calgary many years ago, plus spent countless hours helping us to settle into our new surroundings. And it didn’t stop there. Her friendship was never ending. I will remember her fondly and cherish all the beautiful memories 

So sorry to hear of Norma's passing. I knew Norma through Westminster United Church for many years,she was such a special caring person. My prayers go out to her family, just remember she will always be in your heart.

To my dearest friend, who I love more than words can say, to her wonderful husband Rob, to my precious Emilie, Danny, and Leslie, and to all of Nanna’s amazing family; thank you for sharing her with us. She will always, always be in our hearts.  

Just a little something silly...I remember I was sending Nanna a card for her birthday. I had her address but I had to call Tracie to ask her name. Truth is, I didn't know her name - she was quite simply Nanna!!
